They said the average high here was 82, that is a COMPLETE lie!! It was frickin' 106 today!!! WTF??? Thank GOD for air conditioning and the fact that it's only slightly humid here.

Dorian poured baking soda in his eyes today, that was sooooooo not fun. The poor kid. We spent 10 minutes (per poison control) flushing out his eyes, which made him scream more than when he dumped the baking soda in them in the first place. Luckily, there won't be any damage, just a rough night, a call to the pediatrician (which was a waste of time and money, I should have called poison control in the first place, they didn't make me wait for a call back), and puffy eyes tomorrow.

We bought Rufus' big ass cage this weekend. It's 45 inches tall!!! Holy crap it's huge! And of course because it's so huge there is no discrete place to put it so it's in between the bar and the couch, lovely. That's okay, I still love him, he's so stinkin' cute.

Can someone remind me how to do an LJ cut? I forgot again....that's what I get for not keeping this thing up to date.

ETA - Nevermind, I rock and I figured it out. Here is a picture of Rufus, our newes addition and my cute kiddo.

I know I haven't updated in forever. Oops!

So we're in Oklahoma City. We have a cute fixer upper house. We have a new puppy, Rufus. He's a great dane (although he's still so tiny, I love it!).Dorian turned one just over a month ago and we had a cupcake in our hotel room. I'll post pictures of both once I figure out how to do a cut again....it's been that long since I've updated. Oops!

I'm having fun staying home with my little guy and we've met some cool mommies. I'm having a play date over here on Friday. I am SUCH a good mom!!

Ben loves his job and is making WAY more than he did in the Marine Corps, so of course we're loving that!!

Umm....did I mention that my brother is getting married next May?? Yay!! So we'll definitely be back in Michigan for that.

Hmm....that's about all the new stuff for now I guess, I lead quite a boring life, it's rather enjoyable!

Alright, maybe I should update a little more frequently!

So the new news is that we're moving!!! Yeah, this time we're going to Oklahoma City. Ben has an awesome job offer we can't refuse. Basically, he'll be making 6 figures his second year there. Yeah, they say money can't buy happiness, but it kinda can!! Plus, he'll be able to put in for a transfer to Kalkaska in 2 years, which isn't too far off, we've been gone 4.5 years, what's 2 more?

The more I look into OKC, the more I want to live there (and maybe stay!) The temperature is really mild. The average low is 36 degrees, the average high is 82 degrees. I thought it was one of those states that gets super hot. I was thinking we'd have to deal with 110 degree days in the summer.

There are a million museums, they've got a Six Flags, a water park botanical gardens, a theatre, everything. I should be able to stay busy!

The first thing I'm going to do is get a membership to the YMCA. I've got to get in shape for my brother's wedding next May. The bridesmaids dresses are beautiful, so I wanna look hot in one!

Ben is leaving for OKC sometime next week. We'll be house-hunting, and as soon as we close on a house, Dorian and I will move down, so we won't be here much longer at all!

We're having Dorian's birthday party this weekend, and that'll have to do for our going away party, since we don't have much time left.

Okay, my mom and Ben are waiting for me to watch "House" with them. Guess I should go!

There isn't a whole lot going on here right now. We're just kinda hanging out until Ben flies to Oklahoma City next Sunday. He's going to meet a couple other guys from Baker Hughes and he'll get a look at one of their locations. We're hoping he comes back that Tuesday with a job offer. It sounds really promising, they've already told him he's basically got it, they just want to make sure he fits in well with the company.

As for me, I'm just hanging out here at my Mom's. We're still trying to get together with friends we haven't seen, so in between Dorian's naps, we try to get out of the house for a bit. I wanted to go to a playdate tonight, but the MTM site isn't working, so I can't get directions! Jodi or Candace, do you know how to get to Renee's house, or even have her phone number? I wasn't going to go, but both Ben and my mom are going to be out all evening, I figured we'd get out of the house too!

We're puppy-sitting for my brother's CRAZY Jack Russel puppy, so Dorian and I are locked in the computer room for a bit while we let her run around. She's a pretty good dog, especially for only being 9 weeks old, but she likes to jump on Dorian and she's got super sharp nails!

Also, I've seriously decided to start eating better and working out more. Ben is writing up a whole workout routine for me, so I'm very excited! I'm tired of this post-baby body!

This has taken me about 12 years to actually type out since Dorian now loves to put anything he can find in his mouth, so I have to watch him like a hawk! Apparently he loves the taste of fuzz from the floor...yum...So I guess it's time to play with the little guy some more!

Dorian @ 8 months, 1 week and 2 days:

Weight: 20 lbs, 12 oz (Just over 50th percentile, he's getting skinny!)
Height: 29 inches (90th percentile)
Head size: 18.5 inches (90th percentile, it's getting bigger! I'm still surprised it's not off the charts, God knows looking at his dad and uncles you'd think so!)

He has been cranky because he missed his morning nap. He went to sleep quickly, so hopefully this nap will be a long one!

Now I think all I need to do is go pick up copies of our medical records tomorrow. Ooh, I need to remember to call my dentist and request those too.

We have millions of boxes packed, not many more to go. Our goal is to be sleeping on a matress on the floor by Sunday night. Dorian's crib will stay up until Monday, after that he will sleep in his pack 'n play. We're moving all the furniture in the garage so we can shampoo the carpets on Sunday night/Monday.

The game plan is to load the truck Monday, and also go pick Jeff, the BIL, up from the airport. Our final inspection is at 11:00 am on Tuesday morning, so we should be on the road at about 12:00. We'll be driving 5 hours that day. Wednesday morning we'll be getting up pretty early and heading to Louisville, Ben and I will stop, Jeff will continue home with the moving truck (he has lots of work to do), so that is our 8 hour day. Thursday we'll leave around 10 or 11, so we should be home around 4 or 5.

I think we're going to wait and unload the truck on Friday since the Penske lady loves us and gave us an extra day for free plus gave us a military discount.

Then on Saturday we turn around and head for Chicago. If things go as planned, we'll arrive home on Monday and Ben will be newly employed! Woo hoo for Bradley-Morris, they are awesome!

Ok, that's enough rambling for now!

There is a movie coming out about Mark David Chapman, John Lennon's killer, called Chapter 27. I'd really like to see it, except Lindsay Lohan is in it. yuck. Maybe she'll play Yoko Ono. hehe. Jared Leto is playing Mark David Chapman, he got FAT for the role.

Oh, it's my last day of work :) We're leaving in 12 days!!

My baby is fast asleep for his second nap of the day. I should really be packing but I just don't feel like it! So far my day has consisted of a couple loads of laundry, playing with Dorian and wasting time on the internet, oh, and eating the rainbow chip frosting right out of the can. I need to keep my self busy so I stop eating everything in sight!

I packed up most of our pictures/frames today. I still need to take the big ones off the walls. Ben is packing up the garage.

We were going to another BBQ today, but it's raining, so it looks like we're all just going to hang out and order pizza. It is so crazy to think that we were eating burgers and complaining about bugs yesterday, and in just over two weeks I'll be back there having to deal with snow!

A random but cute picture )

I packed up 3 more boxes today during Dorian's nap. I'm going to throw a couple more things in the one that is almost through in his room. We're getting there, I'd say we,ve got about 22+ boxes packed already. We have a lot of shit. Our concern is whether the biggest moving truck we can find is big enough.

I made a cake today. Just what I need. But it has rainbow chip frosting!

Dorian crawled a bit last night, it was so much fun! He did so good, he would move about a foot or two and then do a faceplant into the floor.
So this is what all my pictures will look like from now on )

I really need to get ready for work now.

20 days until we leave, 22-23 days until we get there!

Now if we could only get the BIL on the phone so we can get his plane ticket for sure. grr. When I said I liked this BIL better than the other, that wasn't much of a compliment.

I'm going to pack some kitchen stuff that I don't use much on Friday. I also need at least one more rubbermaid container so I can pack all our pictures.

I'm running out of room to keep things. Dorian's basinette is taken apart in the middle of his room. I swear I'm going to trip and be impaled in there, I think I'm going to stick it in the guest room tonight. Once we get the Taurus sold, we'll be able to move the '58 out of the garage and start putting boxes in there. Ben has TONS to pack when he does that, he has every tool known to man, I swear.

4 more work days!!! Woo hoo!!!

Have I mentioned that I will be in the state of Michigan in 26 days?!?!?! (give or take a day or two, let's pray D does well in the car!).

Looks like the BIL (not the one I talked about before, I like this one a tiny bit more) will be flying down to help us drive back. Matt was gonna come, but just lost his job, so he is out. bummer. I love Matt.

Dorian's fuzzi bunz should be here a couple days! Thanks Candace! She ordered some for me, I'm so excited! Now his poor little bum will clear up, he's all chafed from the disposables. I'll post some pics when I get them washed and everything.

I have nothing to do today, which is fine, I'm being lazy. I got up with Dorian at 8:00 and went back to bed when he went down for a nap at 10:00. He slept for a bit, then we played and ate. He is really trying to crawl. He gets on his hands and knees and rocks all the time, then he gets on his toes instead and tries to move that way. When he gets frustrated he just cheats and starts rolling. I have to watch him pretty closely since he can move so much, although there really isn't anything for him to get into b/c all our books and knick knacks and stuff are packed up. He's down for another nap now, so I get to be lazy and sit here in front of the computer for a bit.

My BIL and his family are supposed to be coming to visit this weekend. They live in Atlanta (they're 5 hours from us door-to-door) and have only come to see us once in more than 3.5 years. We've made quite a few trips there (usually about twice a year) but lately it's been pretty clear that they don't want us there. They're asses, in my opinion.

We invited them here for Thanksgiving since they haven't met Dorian yet. Noah said they were too busy to leave town but we should go there. I said no, I didn't want to drive 5 hours with the baby to hang out with people who didn't even want me to come when we were possibly having to evacuate b/c of a hurricane. So about 2 weeks later Noah calls Ben and says "Hey, we're going to grandma's for Thanksgiving, you guys should meet us there." #1) Thought you were too busy to leave town, so now you're going to drive the 8 hours there instead of the 5 hours here. #2) We didn't want to drive 5 hours, what makes you think we want to trek 11 hours up there with the baby??? Grr...That's great they're visiting their grandma, and if they'd said "Oh, we're already planning on going up there" when we asked in the first place, I would have been fine with it.

I'm shocked that they want to visit. I'm still not sure they're coming. They've mentioned it before then never did follow through. I made Ben call Noah on Tuesday and get a firm answer. I need to get my house straightened up and buy groceries if they are. Noah said yes, so we'll see. They're coming Saturday, late morning/early afternoon and leaving Sunday in the late afternoon. Both Fiona and Rosie are in school, so they can't stay longer, which is just fine with me.

Grr...We'll probably have an alright time, it just irritates me b/c they treat Ben like shit. Ben and Noah were always best friends, now look how he treats him, and Ben just puts up with it b/c he still wants them to be as close as they used to be.

Last year at Christmas was a mess, but a long story, I won't even go into it, but that's when we really realized we weren't welcome to stay in their home.

Honestly, I think it's me. they were close til Ben and I got married. Noah's wife, Erin has made stupid comments to me that piss me off, but I'm too nice to say anything back. Not long after we were married, she was looking at my ring (it was Ben's grandmothers) and said "Sue (MIL) wanted Noah to give that to me, but I thought it was ugly". Thanks. And No, Sue never offered it to you thankyouverymuch. She also said "Mary (other SIL) and I were talking about you two just after I met you. She said that she could tell you two would get married, I didn't think so at all." Again, Thanks Beeeeeeotch.

Sorry about the vent...they piss me off so much. I'm not looking forward to being around the rest of the in-laws so much. Oh well.

I am excited to see our nieces though.

Ben scared the crap out of me last night. Dorian's monitor also senses movement, and if there is no movement for 20 seconds, an alarm goes off in his room and ours. It goes off from time to time b/c Dorian likes to get himself curled up at the absolute head of the bed and the board under the mattress is a tiny bit too small. Well, it went off last night and Ben went to check on him (He doesn't have to work today, I do). He reset the alarm and came back in the room and said "Where's Dorian" I swear my heart stopped. I'm feeling around myself to make sure I didn't bring him to bed with us in the middle of the night for some reasom. He wasn't there. So I jumped out of bed and ran in his room. He was there. Just curled up against the side of the crib and his PJs seemed to blend in to the sheet in the middle of the night when Ben couldn't see straight. That is my worst fear, I think. Time to re-check all the window locks since we had them open a few days ago.

In other news, life is back to normal now that the holidays are over. Not for long though. I'm down to 4 weeks til I'm done with work! Yay! 6 weeks or so til we're on our way back to MI!

I feel like crap today. I'm at work of course. And where is my husband?? At home asleep when he should be at work!! He has major short-timer's disease. Good thing he gets paid no matter what! I'm definitely taking a nap tomorrow. I have a lot of housework to get done first :( The place is a huge disaster since we got home from Tampa and dumped stuff everywhere. Not to mention the 7 loads of laundry waiting to be folded. blah! I want to be rich so I can have a housekeeper!!

How come this doesn't add up to 100%? Shouldn't it? And how is it that boobs turn me on when I answered no to all the boob questions? Apparently a penis means more than the persons face :)
